Position Information

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible permanent/probationary position.
This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Department Summary

Under the general direction and supervision of the Assistant Director of Logistical Services, Shipping and Receiving Services (SRS), and Mail Services (MS) are jointly responsible for the receipt of all incoming material for the campus community and the delivery of such material to the appropriate campus departments. The departments are also responsible for the receipt, packing and shipment of all outgoing material as well. The departments provide documentation and verification of all material to assure it is in accordance with the purchase orders. Responsibilities also include the receipt and tagging of University equipment.

The Mail Services Department is also jointly responsible for receiving sorting and distribution of U.S. and campus mail. It also distributes other campus related materials. The department serves as the liaison between the University and the U.S. Postal Services.

Education and Experience

Two years of experience in a storeroom or warehouse in the performance of work involving the receipt, storage, and issuance of a variety of supplies, material, and equipment.

Prospective applicants who have not had the experience listed may be considered eligible based on other evidence of meeting the minimum qualifications.

Key Qualifications

Forklift Certificate is preferred.
Proficiency with a wide variety of computer software applications that are commonly used in the warehousing, receipts, tracking, storage, and procurement.
Thorough knowledge of department operations and workflow to allow judgement to plan and schedule stages of receipt, processing, and distribution of material to the campus.
Complete working knowledge of Shipping and Receiving operations and workflow.
Licenses/Certifications Required

Valid California Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,875 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
